James Ball, President & Chief Mentor Gas Strategies Group, & co-founder of Alphatania , James has exceptional understanding of the international gas business, with particular interest in the West European gas markets, power market strategies for gas and inter­national LNG markets. An extensive network of contacts in the international gas scene enables him to keep abreast of developments and to cross check views in a variety of situations.
 
 
David Drury, Managing Consultant, Gas Strategies Consulting
David specialises in LNG Project due diligence, Southern European and Mediterra­nean markets. He has held positions with BP Amoco’s upstream business, latterly as general Manager in Turkey. He was General Manager of BP Algeria from 1993-5. He subsequently took over responsibility for BP’s Southern Europe gas marketing, in which he played a leading part in establishing In Salah Gas, and served as the company’s first chairman.
 
David is a former board member of the Observatoire Mediterraneen de l’Energie and of Cedigaz.
 
 
John Elkins, Editor, Gas Matters
John previously spent thirty years with British Gas in a variety of central planning activi­ties, specialising in forecasting gas supply, demand and storage requirements, he joined EconoMatters as a consultant in 1996 and was editor of Gas Briefing Europe and is now Editor of Gas Matters Today.
 
 
Rob Fenton, Managing Consultant, Gas Strategies Consulting
Rob has a proven track record of analysis and strategy development in the gas busi­ness. He has extensive knowledge of the industry and especially LNG backed by direct participation in successful commercial negotiations as well as experience in M&A and over 27 years of man and business management across research, chemicals, gas and power.
 
 
Andy Flower, Senior Trainer
Andy is a highly respected independent LNG consultant in demand the world over. For 22 years, Andy was involved in BP’s LNG and natural gas business activities, latterly as Senior Adviser, Global LNG. During his career, he managed projects in Nigeria , Abu Dhabi , Australia and Qatar and participated in studies of LNG investments in Papua New Guinea , Venezuela , Angola , Egypt , Iran and Sakhalin .
 
He was also involved in LNG projects in Trinidad and Indonesia and in BP’s successful bid for participation in the Guangdong terminal in China.
 
 
Bob Handley, Advisor, Gas Strategies Consulting
Bob has focused on adapting the upstream business to changing markets. At Conoco, he managed exploration and development in Egypt , the Netherlands , USA and UK . Bob is a former director of the independent gas marketer, Kinetica.

 
Chris Le Fevre, Advisor, Gas Strategies Consulting
Chris has over 25 years experience in the energy and utility sectors both in the UK and internationally. He has worked extensively on liberalisation of gas markets through­out Europe and was a director of Transco for 8 years from the company’s formation in 1994. He was a key player in British Gas’s diversification strategy post privatisation and worked for Shell in Holland and Malaysia .
 
He has extensive experience of strategic business development, financial and economic appraisal, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate communications.
 
 
Didier Legros, Expert, Gas Strategies Consulting
Didier has a long and extensive operational background in the petroleum industry and in the energy industry. His main area of focus is on liberalised gas and power markets where he offers advice to integrated energy companies, traders, suppliers and regional distributors, large energy buyers, and European or national regulatory agencies.
 
 
Mike Madden, Advisor, Gas Strategies Consulting
Mike is an independent consultant on transportation issues, Mike specialises in gas storage, gas trading and European liberalisation. He had particular experience at BG Transco, implementing Third Party Access in Britain from its early beginnings to the present day Network Code.
 
 
David Pearce, Advisor, Gas Strategies Consulting
David’s experience includes gas supply, strategy formulation, sales purchase, pipeline transportation and processing contracts; governance of LNG joint ventures and power projects in various countries around the world. David previously fulfilled the role of sce­nario planning workshop facilitator with GBN. David gained extensive experience with Shell
 
 
Neil Pinto, Managing Director of Power Planning Consultants
Neil has a total of 17 years experience of engineering consultancy and is a Fellow of the Institution of Electrical Engineers and Member of the Institute of Management .
 
Neil’s specialist skills in energy planning included managing many international assignments in the Middle East , Africa , Asia and South America . Neil also acted as a consultant to the World Bank on assignments in Africa .

 
Pat Roberts, Managing Consultant, Gas Strategies Consulting
Previously with Shell, Pat was General Manager of Atlantic Basin Shell International LNG Supply Company and was the lead commercial negotiator in completing three 20 year purchase agreements totalling 80 Mtpa of LNG from Nigeria’s Train 4-6 expan­sion.
 
She has 24 years of international experience in both the oil and gas divisions of Shell and in the last 6 years, gained specialist expertise in structuring and completing large complex commercial deals in LNG involving foreign governments and joint venture partners.
 
 
Ben Schlesinger, President of Ben Schlesinger & Consultants Inc
Ben is an acknowledged expert on gas and power project finance in the USA and else­where, and a specialist on commercial trading mechanisms and contracting. Ben was on the gas advisory panel of the NY Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) for 16 years and is a former Vice President of the American Gas Association.
 
   
Rob Shepherd , Advisor, Gas Strategies Consulting
Rob has worked on several international LNG projects, finance, market and structures; European strategy and gas restructuring in Britain and Australia . He was also part of the World Bank studies on Southern Africa and Azerbaijan. Previously with BP in LNG and Gas.
 
 
Pankaj Wadhwa, Team Leader at the Oil and Gas practice of CRISIL Infrastructure Advisory
Pankaj holds a Masters Degree in Finance (MFC) from the University of Delhi and is also an Associate Member of the Institute of Cost & Works Accountants of India.
 
Having worked with the industry in the Fertilisers and the Oil & Gas Sectors, he has more than 14 years of experience in the areas of project finance and commercial negotiations of contracts

 
Chris Levell, Manager, Gas Strategies Consulting
Chris specialises in analysing the operational activities and finances of upstream and utility companies operating within the ever developing European gas market. Chris is also the Manager of the GasStrategiesOnline range of services and heavily involved in business development and project management.
 
On a recent assignment Chris project managed and contributed to reviewing the gas marketing options in five North African countries for a multinational oil and gas company already active in the upstream sector of this region.
 
 
Peter Thompson, Consultant, Gas Strategies Consulting
Peter Thompson joined Gas Strategies in 2006 and has worked on a range of projects. Recently he worked on Dubai Energy’s pre-feasibility study for an LNG import terminal in Dubai. He has also worked on: an in-depth analysis of the short-term LNG markets, especially in the Atlantic basin; a study of the Indonesian LNG industry and its potential regional and global ramifications; advising a European company in its desire to start LNG imports. Part of his day to day duties is tracking the progress of LNG projects, trade and prices worldwide and he therefore has excellent knowledge of their status, progress, target markets and issues surrounding them.
 
Peter previously worked for Gas Matters and he has written extensively on global LNG, with a particular focus on North America, and has, since November 2003, edited LNG Focus. Apart from writing and editing LNG market analysis pieces for LNG Focus, he also analyses LNG supply, demand, and price data for the numbers pages at the back of the magazine.
