The Alphatania exercises and case studies form a key feature of most courses. They are drawn from a variety of real life experiences of operating projects, woven into the fictional region of "Alphatania". Delegates get involved with the dilemmas and problems faced by buyers, sellers, financiers, shippers and contractors in the development of the gas industry, and are challenged to come up with inventive solutions to the issues presented by each exercise. The solutions are analysed and compared with the choices, made in real life projects.

“Company” has established an LNG task force (drawing in people from across technical, commercial, business development and other backgrounds) within International E & P to drive the development of business opportunities in international LNG.
 
The aim of the workshop was to create a common platform of understanding within the task force of the LNG business as it is today, and to share and develop a vision of how it might develop over the coming years.
 
Each session included a short introduction on the topic in order for everyone to get up to speed with the basics, whilst allowing those already familiar with the topic to contribute. In-depth discussions of each topic followed, focusing on the real business issues faced by participants in the market.
