Liquefied Natural Gas - The Commercial Imperatives
Courses Dates
- 2 - 6 November 2009 - Golden Tulip Apollo, Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Course Information
LNG continues to grow its share of the gas market, and with an unprecedented volume of new supply on the cusp of entering the market, it has never before been so important to understand this unique and fascinating industry. Despite this period of phenomenal growth, both of volumes traded and the number and types of players involved, LNG faces an uncertain future. High prices, stalled projects, high capital costs and difficulties in accessing reserves all mean that now, more than ever, you need to understand the dynamics of the LNG industry.
With a fundamentals-up approach, this 5-day practical course takes the LNG novice and teaches them not only the nuts and bolts of the industry: How it evolved, the physical chain; the markets and supplier, but also delves into these issues.
A combination of expert tuition and interactive exercises will allow you to work through key issues and build a robust understanding of the LNG industry.
Exercises include
- Shipping and storage: You will evaluate the shipping and storage requirements of an LNG project looking at factors such as the distance between the liquefaction plant and the market, and seasonality of demand.
- Structuring an LNG project: You will be assigned roles as LNG investors or buyers and develop a project structure taking into account the differing objectives of the participants and the requirements of the bankers.
- Memorandum of Understanding: You will review two Memoranda of Understanding, identifying incompatible and unworkable clauses and advising on the changes that are needed.
- Crystal Ball: You will be asked to make predictions of LNG prices, supply and demand and leading importers and exporters over the next decade. A review session during the last morning will compare the forecasts and provide a basis for a discussion of the future of the LNG business.
